App & website blocker

Make a promise to yourself. Keep it.

OathLock locks away the apps and websites that steal your time until your timer runs out. Once a session starts, there's no backing out: the blocked apps stay closed and OathLock is protected from being uninstalled.

How it works

Three steps. Then it's out of your hands.

OathLock is built for the moments when willpower runs out. You decide once, while your head is clear.

Choose your distractions

Pick the apps and websites that pull you in. Save them as a list for study, work or bedtime.

Set the timer and take the oath

From 15 minutes to 90 days. Start the session and the lock is on.

Reach for it, get a reminder

Open a blocked app and you get a line of wisdom instead of a feed. When time is up, everything unlocks by itself.

Why OathLock

A lock you can't talk your way out of.

Most blockers have an off switch one tap away. OathLock is designed so that the version of you who set the timer stays in charge.

Blocks apps

Social media, games, video, anything. Blocked apps close the moment they open.

Blocks websites

Block a site and all its subdomains, in the browsers you actually use.

Uninstall protection

During a session OathLock can't be deleted the usual way. Switching protection off takes a deliberate trip into system settings, and counts as breaking your oath.

A quote, every time

Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, Thoreau and more, in place of the scroll you were about to start.

Strict mode

No early exit at all. Or use Normal mode, where ending early means waiting out the urge first.

Private by design

No account, no ads, no tracking. Your lists and sessions never leave your device.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can I end a session early?

In Normal mode, yes, but only after a waiting period (a quarter of the session, from 15 minutes up to 24 hours). That's usually long enough for the urge to pass. In Strict mode, no: the session ends when the timer does.

What if there's an emergency?

Phone calls, emergency services and your phone's settings are never blocked. You can only block the apps and websites you choose.

Can't I just uninstall it?

Not the usual way. On iPhone, app deletion is turned off until the session ends. On Android, OathLock uses Android's built-in uninstall protection, so removing it first means switching that off in system settings, and OathLock marks the session as broken. In Chrome, optional extra protection keeps the Extensions page closed. No app can be 100% unbreakable, but OathLock makes giving in take real effort.

Does OathLock see my messages or browsing history?

No. Blocking is checked on your device and nothing is uploaded or stored. Read the privacy policy for details.

Do I need an account?

No. OathLock never asks you to sign up. To use Pro in the Chrome extension, the phone app shows a short unlock code you paste in once. Nothing leaves your device.

Which browsers does it work in?

On Android: Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Opera and DuckDuckGo. On iPhone: Safari, and you can block other browser apps during a session. On a computer: the OathLock Chrome extension.

When can I get it?

OathLock is coming soon to the App Store, Google Play and the Chrome Web Store.
